The Apostle Paul made a very profound statement in 1 Corinthians 15:33 as he said, “Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits.” Notice here how Paul begins with, “do not be deceived”, because “evil company” is also deceptive company. I believe Paul’s message to us is if we keep company with evil company that do evil things then eventually, we will be deceived not only to accept evilness but to also participate in it. Paul again speaks of this principle in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (please read). Now, notice the words Paul uses in these verses to give clarity to the situation described. In verse fourteen Paul uses “unequally yoked”, “what fellowship”, “what communion”, in verse fifteen he uses “what accord”, “what part”, in verse sixteen “what agreement”. As we mentioned above, acceptance or agreement comes right after deception from evilness! Notice now verse seventeen, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean (or worldliness) and I will receive you.” The Lord’s directive is quite clear! “Separate yourself” from all people, places, and things that will influence your life in a negative, wicked, unGodly way. Now, don’t be deceived by Paul saying, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers”. This does not mean that we are not to witness, pray for, and give our testimony to unbelievers so they might be saved. God’s purposes in our lives and the lives of others can be seriously hindered and halted by the decisions we make! Today is “The Day of Separation”! Decide today to, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord!
