As you study the Bible you’ll find that it not only contains but also explains “the Principles of God”. What is a “principle”? Webster’s Dictionary defines a “principle” as a fundamental truth, law or doctrine. A “doctrine” is something taught or teachings. Something taught as “principles”. Doctrine refers to teaching based on carefully worked out “principles”. There are many “Divine Principles” revealed to us in the Bible and one is what I call, the “According to Principle”. This principle may be better known as “the sowing and reaping principle”. This fundamental truth is described through several different applications or statements. This truth first says that what we want to reap, we must first sow. If we don’t sow, we won’t reap! So, we reap “according to” what we sow. This principle also states that we reap “according to” how much we sow. The Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 9:6, “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” Yes, we reap “according to” what we sow! As in the natural, if we want to reap plenty of corn, then sow plenty of corn. If you want to reap plenty of corn, then don’t sow plenty of beans. So in the spiritual, if you want to reap “good things”, you can’t sow “bad things”! Paul goes on to say in Galatians 6:7-8, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.” Luke, a physician and disciple said in Luke 6:38, “Give and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” The unique thing about the “According to Principle” is that it can be applied and will work in any and every aspect of our life. Now notice Luke 6:38, as Luke begins with the word “give” (you could also use the word “sow”) plug-in any word after the word “give” such as give forgiveness or give friendship, or give love, or give help, or give finances, etc. and the rest of the verse still remains true. This is a fundamental truth, this is the “According to Principle” and it will work for you!
